We've been playing around with more savoury serving suggestions for The Muesli because It really is a versatile pantry staple with seriously untapped potential.
Not just savoury meals for lunch or dinner, but we believe moving into a more savoury scope for brekky is not a bad idea either.
So often our breakfast's (especially cold ones - think smoothie bowls) are so packed with sugar, they taste like dessert and there's much healthier ways to fuel your body and mind for the day ahead.
In this light, we've put together these delicious fritters, using The Muesli as a base. Not only did it work a treat, but they're sugar-free, vegetarian and can be modified to be Gluten Free or vegan.

Our founder Emma Dumas is a recipe creating master - especially when it comes to putting together delicious food without the sugar - and it runs in the family. This simple and delicious Mug Muffin was invented by Amy Dumas and it's nothing short of genius.
With The Muesli of course, we've used a very special ingredient for a wonderful sugar-conscious Easter alternative to the Hot Cross Bun. Gewürzhaus' Hot Cross Bun Spice Mix is a fabulous spice mix that includes: cassia, coriander, ginger and clove, which leaves you with that distinctive Easter flavour and feel.

Shake fans rejoice!
Combine a handful of fresh or frozen fruit (cantaloupe, mango, passionfruit, frozen raspberries and blueberries recommended), with 3 dstsp The Muesli, 1-2 dstsp natural yoghurt, half a cup of milk and a couple of ice cubes. Mix with a hand blender in a tall jug and serve. More satisfying than a smoothie!

Heat a fry pan and before it gets too hot - dry fry the coriander seeds (if whole) until start to get aromatic. Add the Caraway Seed and The Muesli, gently move around the pan with a spoon for a couple of minutes. Add remaining ingredients, stir to combine. Remove from the heat and cool then pulse a couple of times in food processor.
Store in a clean jar.
]]>Our Granola & Banana cups!
These may look pretty & fancy but we guarantee these take no more than 3 minutes to whip up.
The bottom layer
1 Banana mashed with a couple of tablespoons of plain greek yoghurt (or plain coconut yoghurt if you’re vegan or lactose intolerant).
The middle
Our granola, of course! We used 4 dessert spoons here.
The top
Is baby spinach we have wilted in the microwave – trust us! Spinach has almost no flavour and takes on the flavours around it. Once you spoon it out with the granola & yoghurt, you won’t even notice you’re eating spinach for breakfast without eggs.
We’ve finished it off with an extra dollop of yoghurt, a few blueberries and another sprinkle of granola (we admit it – that’s only because it’s pretty).
Et Voila – another way to serve The Muesli!

Take this (ridiculously good-looking) bowl.
Now you might have tasted green smoothie bowls before and either been put off, or needed to sweeten them with something trying to disguise itself as not being sugar (but deep down we all know it’s sugar, right?).
Well we’re here to let you in on a little secret; Pineapple!
A few chunks of pineapple (we had 4 cubes in this bowl) sweetens up the greenest of green vegies without adding a bucket full of sugar.
This bowl contains 3 sticks of celery, a big handful of baby spinach, a splash of water & those 4 chunks of pineapple – that’s it!
Plus, when sticking to the One Line Rule, we still like the option of putting a little bit of fruit on top of our smoothie bowl to chew and taste and feel, not just blending it all up.

To Assemble
Mix kidney beans in a sprinkle of cumin, salt, finely chopped spring onion, lemon juice & olive oil and serve with left over roast vegetables (we used sweet potato), greens (we used kale) and a sprinkle of raw cashews.
Sushi Bowl
Serve brown rice topped with sliced cucumber, carrot, mashed avocado, torn nori sheets spring onion, shredded lettuce and an egg. To dress, mix 1 tsp of low salt soy sauce and . a tsp of sesame oil. We’ve topped with black sesame seeds, but you could use plain sesame seeds.
Quinoa & Tuna Greek Salad
Serve cooked Quinoa with cucumber, halved cherry tomatoes, kalamata olives, full-fat feta cheese, fresh herbs (parsley, oregano and basil will work well) and a can of tuna in spring water or olive oil. Dress with equal parts apple cider vinegar (you could use red wine vinegar too) and olive oil – a great alternative to the traditional balsamic which can be quite high in sugar.

Just because ‘Morning Sunshine’ is turning into ‘Morning, it’s still dark outside’ doesn’t mean cold weather doesn’t have as many perks as hot weather. If you aren’t catching my drift, even if it’s windy outside, I’ve written a list of the best things about cold weather:
Now that you are aware of how good Autumn really is and your mouth is watering for some of that porridge I mentioned earlier, here is the perfect recipe for a delicious and warm Pear, Cinnamon and The Muesli porridge:
